Tim Naughton

Tim has a background in Mechanical Engineering and is the Technical Director and Founder of Salinity Solutions Ltd. During his undergraduate degree, he co-developed a new water treatment technology based on high-efficiency reverse osmosis. Then, as a research fellow at the University of Birmingham, Tim completed several entrepreneurial programs, enabling him to set up Salinity Solutions and bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Tim is responsible for all technical aspects of the business, leading a team of engineers as well as liaison with the University of Birmingham, which is a key shareholder and R&D partner. He works alongside the market development and commercial functions to establish the customer requirements and develop technical solutions. In November 2022 Tim was awarded 7th place in Tech Round’s 29 under 29 entrepreneurs in the UK.

Tim is also the vice chair of Aston University’s Industrial Advisory Board, which advises on course content to ensure students learn skills applicable to industry.
