Metin Akbas

Metin Akbaş was born in 1971 in Akçakale, Şanlıurfa. After completing primary and secondary education in Adana Pozanti, he graduated from Eskişehir Railway Vocational High School in 1987 and from Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Electronical Engineering in 1992. He received his master’s degree in Urban Systems and Transportation Management.
His professional life in the Republic of Turkey State Railways in 1987 (TCDD) starting Akbaş, respectively officer within the same institution, Trakya Telecommunications Specialist Engineering, Control Engineering, Istanbul Suburb Services Department, Haydarpasa (Istanbul) 1st Region Vice President and Haydarpasa (Istanbul) 1 He served as District Director.
During his term in office, he was responsible for the responsibility of the units related to the investment of TCDD, Coordinator of Operations of Marmaray representing the Turkish State Railways and of the Marmaray Coordination Commission Directorate on behalf of TCDD.
In 2015, he was appointed Assistant General Manager of the Infrastructure Investments Department at the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications. In May 2016, he was appointed Deputy General Manager.
Projects carried out during his time at the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments; Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport – Kaynarca Metro Line Construction Work, Bakirkoy – Kirazli Metro Line Construction, Marmaray Project Construction and Consultancy Services, Marmaray Metro Vehicle Procurement, Istanbul Commuter Lines Improvement Project, Eurasian Tunnel Project, Istanbul New Airport Rail System Connection Study-Project Work, Three-Storey Big Istanbul Tunnel Project, Ankara Metro Lines Construction and Vehicle Purchase, Ankara Esenboğa Airport Metro Line Surveying-Design Work, Konya Metro Surveys Survey Project Work, Antalya Expo Tramway Construction and Projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) Railway Construction are included.
Metin Akbaş, who was the Board Member of Vademsaş Scissors Factory, a subsidiary of TCDD, was appointed to the position of İSKİ Deputy General Director on August 31, 2016.
Metin Akbaş is married and has two children. He speaks English.
