Biography
Jorge Assalie is a Financing Manager for water, sewage and solid waste projects at the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) since 2012. Among the projects under his management, he is currently the manager for concessions and public private partnership at the states of Ceará, Pará, Acre, Minas Gerais and Porto Alegre Municipality with $6 billion estimated investments.
Jorge Assalie joined BNDES in 2009, and since then he has held various positions, including a 12-years experience at water, sanitation and solid waste projects. He holds a BSc in engineering from UFRJ (Rio de Janeiro Federal University) and a master´s degree from IBMEC Rio de Janeiro.
BNDES is the main financing agent for development in Brazil and has become one of the largest development banks in the world since its foundation in 1952. As a federal government institution, BNDES has played a fundamental role in stimulating the expansion of industry and infrastructure in the country through long-term loans and other financial instruments.”
