Biography
Jean-Louis Schotte is a Financing Manager for water, sewage, and solid waste projects at the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) since 2018. In this capacity, he manages a number of projects, including the Águas do Rio financing, a water and wastewater concession in the Rio de Janeiro state with an estimated investment of $8 billion, $4 billion of which shall be provided by BNDES over a 12-year capital expenditure plan.
Jean-Louis joined BNDES in 2003, and since then he has held various positions, including a decade of experience in capital markets and private equity division. He holds a BSc in engineering from the Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ) and a MBA from Insper São Paulo.
BNDES is the main financing agent for development in Brazil and has become one of the largest development banks in the world since its foundation in 1952. As a federal government institution, BNDES has played a fundamental role in stimulating the expansion of industry and infrastructure in the country through long-term loans and other financial instruments.
