Biography
George Butler is a principal water specialist at the International Finance Corporation – the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. He has 30 years’ experience in the water sector as an engineer, utility operator, economic regulator, technical consultant and investor. Prior to IFC George was the director of asset management for NI Water, the water and sewerage company for Northern Ireland. Before that George worked for OFWAT (the water regulator for England & Wales), CDC Group (the UK’s development finance institution), Black & Veatch Consultants and as a military engineer. George is a chartered civil engineer (FICE), with masters’ degrees in public health engineering from Imperial College, London and business administration from Cranfield University.
