Biography
Gail is an experienced strategic and operational executive with a demonstrated history of working across global markets in FMCG, Financial Services and Non-Exec roles across diverse sectors, NGO’s and PPPs.
Executive career roles, in chronological order, have included CEO and Chairman of Unilever in SADC and member of the Africa, Middle East and Asia Executive Team; Global Vice President of Unilever’s Laundry Brands (Surf, Omo, Persil etc.) and Global SVP of Unilever Savoury Business (Knorr, Ragu, PF Changs etc.) across 190 markets; Global Chief Sustainability Officer Unilever and advisor to Corporate Ventures Fund; Customer and Responsible Business Director of Old Mutual Group PLC and Executive Director representative on subsidiary boards.
Previous non-executive roles have included co-chair of the Consumer Goods Forum South Africa, non-executive director of the Business Trust South Africa, Chair of Thokomala HIV Orphan Community Homes; member of the Global Leadership Board of the International Women’s Forum; Co-Chair of the Sustainability Group of the Global Consumer Goods Forum, member of the Advisory Board of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Business Transformation Director for the Business and Sustainable Development Commission.
Gail is non-executive director and secured board advisor to a select set of Boards who wish to build profitable businesses as a driver of a more sustainable world. Gail is also partner at SYSTEMIQ; an advisory and investment business which works with various industries to help drive systemic change to a more sustainable economy.
