Biography

Dr. Victor Monsalvo is Head of the Eco-efficiency Area at the Innovation and Technology Department of Aqualia. He is the President of R&D Committee at the International Desalination Association. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from University Autonoma de Madrid and served as Assistant Professor in its Chemical Engineering Department from 2005 to 2014, and has been a visiting researcher at Leeds, Cranfield, Sydney and Aachen Universities. In 2014, he was appointed as Head of Technological Area – Water in Abengoa Research, where he remained until 2016.

Dr. Monsalvo leads an active research team working in areas of water treatment and reuse, biosolids and biogas, membrane-based technologies and desalination processes. He is currently involved in more than 30 public and private innovation projects, acting as coordinator of national and European H2020 projects. As well as having directed research contracts with private companies and edited four books, he has authored or co-authored 8 national and international patents, a book chapter and around 110 journal and conference papers.
